Bringing the Magic of Musical Theatre Back to Drogheda

Drogheda Musical Society (DMS) is an award-winning musical society, dedicated to bringing people together through the magic of musical theatre.

Reformed in 2023 after almost 40 years, DMS was founded by Sheena Duffy (left) and Megan Monerawela (right) with a shared vision of creating a welcoming and inclusive space where people of all ages and experience levels could express themselves, develop their performance skills and experience the joy of being part of a musical production.

Since then, our society has grown into a thriving community of performers, creatives and volunteers who share a passion for theatre, friendship, dance and music.

Bringing the Vision to Life

With the foundations of DMS in place, the next step was bringing that vision to the stage.

Aisling McNally (Left) joined Sheena (Right) and Megan (Center) as DMS’s first choreographer, helping to shape the performance style of the newly reformed society.

From those very first rehearsals, Aisling has been part of the DMS journey, working with performers of different ages and experience levels and helping to create the welcoming, energetic environment that has become such an important part of the society.

Our Journey

After two years of fundraising, cabaret performances and building a strong community, Drogheda Musical Society proudly staged its first full-scale production, The Addams Family, at the Barbican Theatre in March 2026.

The production marked a significant milestone in the society's revival and was recognised nationally when DMS received and went on to win the prestigious Spirit of AIMS Award.

The award celebrates community spirit, resilience and dedication to musical theatre, values that remain at the heart of everything we do.
